WELCOME TO OUR
COMMUNITY-OWNED PUB

THE STORY OF THE RADNOR ARMS

The village of New Radnor had been without a pub since 2016. That changed in 2024. Thanks to your help, we purchased the Radnor Arms, and it is now a functioning community pub.

During the spring of 2024, we fundraised as the Radnor Arms Hotel Limited Community Benefit Society (CBS),  raising an incredible £200,000 through our share offer, committee funds and a grant from the Architectural Heritage Fund.

This was used to match fund the grant award of £200,000 capital along with a further 40,000 revenue fund through the Community Ownership Fund.

This enabled our community to purchase the Radnor Arms from our generous interim owner, complete extensive renovations and proudly re-open our much-loved community-owned pub here in New Radnor.

However, we still need your help. With the main bar now renovated and open, and the back bar not far behind, we are about to begin our Phase 4 renovation.

As Phase 4 begins, the committee and shareholders will be reviewing plans for the much-needed extension and the renovation of the upstairs rooms (the pub previously operated as a hotel).

Although our open share offer is not currently active, you can still buy shares in the Radnor Arms, our community pub, from just £25 to £20,000. And the best part? Everyone has an equal say. No matter how many shares you buy, you get one vote, keeping our pub truly community-owend and community-led.

THE RADNOR ARMS

The pub that refused to stay closed

The Radnor Arms is a community-owned pub, run by a volunteer committee elected by its shareholders. After closing nine years ago, the doors are now open, and the bar is flowing!

We're now trading Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. Our volunteer team is a mix of experienced bar leads and enthusiastic individuals who are helping to bring the pub back to life.

We’re also working on the back bar and site renovations. Surveys are done, architects are being approached, and grant applications are underway. It’s a slow but exciting journey...

Have your say on the future of our community:

As part of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund programme, PAVO (Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations) is hosting a series of Community Conversations across Powys — and they want to hear from you!

This is a great opportunity for local residents and community groups in and around New Radnor to share what really matters — your needs, priorities, and ideas for making our area an even better place to live.

You can take part by completing a short online survey here: Community Conversations: Shaping the Future of Powys Communities | Have Your Say Powys

You can also scan the QR code on the poster displayed at the Radnor Arms, or get in touch directly to find out about upcoming local conversation events.
