VOLUNTEER STORIES

Lisa moved to the village around two and a half years ago and was keen from the start to get involved in community life. Having previously volunteered at a working men’s club in Kent that was being developed as a community asset, she already had experience helping behind the bar.

Now she volunteers regularly at the pub, enjoying the flexibility of short shifts that fit easily around other commitments. For Lisa, volunteering is about contributing to something that matters while getting to know people in the village and staying active and busy.

Lisa, said, "I volunteer because it is needed and I want to contribute to the community. I really believe in what the pub can bring to the area by becoming a community asset. It’s also a great way to meet people from the village – you’re always chatting to someone and keeping busy."
